Hello. My name is Burke Madding and I have been teaching for almost 20 years. 

On top of that I have been playing drums for over 35 years. 

Learning to play the drums is both physically challenging and mentally challenging.  The ability to listen is crucial to becoming a drummer.  My goal for any student is to have them both learn how to play basic beats on varying styles, as well as learning about the instrument itself. This includes an in depth look at the mechanics of the drums, compositions and history of the drum set.

Lessons are typically held in my home studio in Pflugerville, TX or online. In general, I will teach students how to read drum set music, and some materials will be suggested. To begin with, I would work with getting the student comfortable with playing a basic beat and fills. However, every student is unique, so I do adjust my teaching approach to what works best for the student. 

My rates are $35 for a half hour session and $50 for a one hour session, per student. My first 2 lessons are non-contracted, so that the student can get a feel for the lessons and decide if they want to continue. After the initial 2 lessons, a month by month basis contract is agreed to, however I do still have a 24 hour cancellation policy per lesson so there is plenty of opportunity for changes. I include one (1) recording session with contracted lessons of a song of your choice, which will include an pro level recording and video synced of the student playing along with a track. This would take place during one of the regularly scheduled lessons, which allows the student to experience recording, drum mic placement, processing, and everything else involved with the recording process. I also provide a pro-quality level video to share with friends, family and social media.

Scheduling is generally during weekdays beginning at 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. as schedules allow.
